19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies he has secured 21 championships at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.
The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
