Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior official stated the attack made him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
